What's With The New Carts?

If you've eaten Krishna Lunch this semester, or even walked by, you may have noticed some new spiffy orange and blue serving carts. These carts-the same kind you'd see a stewardess pushing down an airplane aisle--were donated to Krishna Lunch by Delta Airlines.  They have greatly increased the Krishna Lunch efficiency and food quality.  Krishna Lunch is very grateful to Delta for donating these carts.Previously Krishna Lunch was transported to campus tray by tray in a time-consuming task.

Krishna House director Kalakantha das researched all sorts of commercial options, including custom-made carts costing over $60,000! In the process he discovered that flight attendant carts perfectly accommodate the Krishna Lunch serving trays.  After calling several airlines he finally found that Delta was willing to donate twenty-five used carts. Within a few weeks they were painted and ready to go.
These weatherproof carts are excellent insulators, keeping hot food hot and cold food cold. In addition they are mobile and have greatly reduced set up time, allowing the Krishna Lunch to be served as early as 11:10 AM. Part of the shortened set up time is also due to the UF Campus Police, who have very kindly allowed Krishna Lunch to unload the carts next to their new serving location on the southwest corner of the Plaza of the Americas.
We at the Krishna Lunch hope to use these carts for years to come to better serve you.

Krishna Dinner

Every Saturday evening from 6-9 pm a 5 course vegetarian feast is served at Krishna House for a donation of $5 for students and $7 for non-students. Krishna Lunch cards are accepted.

  • Morning

    Daily

    6 am - Mangal Arati
    (group prayers & meditation)

     

    6:30 am  - Japa
    (Private prayers & meditation)

     

    7:30 am - Guru Puja
    (Worship of the Spiritual Master)

    7:45 am - Srimad Bhagavatam Class
     (Vedic scriptural study)

     

    8:30 am - Breakfast 

    10:45 am - 1:30 pm -  Krishna Lunch (served only on campus  Mon. - Fri.)**

  • Evening 

    Friday

    7:00 pm - Kirtan
    (Kirtan is devotional chanting with musical accompaniment)

    7:30 pm - Class (topics vary)

    8:15 pm - Prasadam
    (sanctified vegetarian food offered to Krishna)

    Saturday

    6:00 pm - 9:00 pm Krishna Dinner
