Food for the Soul. The
food we distribute on campus is offered to God with love
and devotion, turning it into prasadam: sanctified food
to nourish the soul. In our 5000-year old tradition,
distributing sanctified food is a charitable act held
in high esteem, which is why you see us out on campus
doing what we do. To try this at home - that is, create
your own sanctified food - follow
these steps.
Krishna Lunch is Served!
Why Vegetarian? We believe that the needless cruelty of killing animals to satisfy our taste buds brings on bad karma - that we'll suffer an equal reaction in this life or the next. Therefore we prepare fresh fruits, grains, vegetables, and milk products instead, as recommended in our scriptures. For more information on why we are vegetarian, see Why Veg? History. Since 1971, Krishna devotees have been distributing food on campus at UF. Not surprisingly, we regularly meet people from all walks of life who remember us from their starving student days. A couple of kids recently told us that their parents, both UF alumni, recommended they stop by and check us out. Hearing such stories warms our hearts and inspires us to continue standing out there day after day, serving you those delicious meals :-) For more on the history of the Krishna Lunch program, read Parama's 30th Anniversary article. Volunteer or Sponsor. You'll be amazed at how good it feels to volunteer and feed people. Give it a try. Every month several UF students help prepare, deliver and serve hot meals on campus. And if you can't physically come and help us, why not sponsor a meal! |
